About Me
I always found this sort of question pretty hard to answer, but I guess the best way to tell you who I am would be to first start by saying I'm an amateur human, who is an amateur at a lot of things in life. I find the title of amateur is perfect for me, because claiming you're the best or at least normal, means that there's a certain level of competency, where if you make a mistake it's held against you a little more than if you were, an amateur! Absolute cop-out to start an about me section, I know, but what do you expect, I'm an amateur at even this!
So now with that out of the way, what do I actually do? Currently I'm working in the tech industry for the past couple of years, at the moment I'm working as a Customer Operations Advisor for an American company in the heart of Dublin city, I've also got a diploma in Web Design, so it's kind of fitting that I build and maintain my own site. Outside of work, I enjoy experiencing new and weird things, and taking pictures of said weird things, so mixing both the Web Design background, my penchant for the bizarre experiences and finally my photography, I thought that setting up this blog would be an interesting project to work on!
What'll be mostly covered in this blog is my previous experiences in life, mainly travel and the weird stories that generally accompany them, however I will be also covering a few other things such as my opinions on certain topics, and maybe down the line a few other weird scenarios.
The Pale and Beyond?
The name came to me one night when I was thinking of how I would like to set up the blog, I went through many different names and possibilities, but they either fell short or didn't quite hit the mark on what I wanted the name to convey, it is technically a brand at the end of the day. So when the idea came to me, I was thinking about what I'd be covering, which originally started with stories from my youth and young manhood (Fan of Kings of Leon by the way), which involves both living in Dublin, and in Wexford. Now in Ireland, back in the old days, Dublin and it's surrounding areas was known as 'The Pale'. So, excellent, I've covered being from 'The Pale' and beyond that, Wexford, I can also make the leap to travel, as everything outside 'The Pale' is technically beyond 'The Pale'.
It doesn't just stop there though, there is also a term in Ireland that something is 'Beyond the Pale', as Dublin was the capital and the height of civilized Ireland, everything outside it was uncivilized and weird. So this blog will be covering both Dublin and everything beyond that, and the normal and abnormal, so 'The Pale And Beyond' was born!
